Attention Michigan Center School District Voters - There will be a Non-Homestead “Operating Millage RENEWAL Proposal” on the August 6, 2024 ballot.

Update from Michigan Center School District:

Attention Michigan Center School District Voters - There will be a Non-Homestead “Operating Millage RENEWAL Proposal” on the August 6, 2024 ballot.  We are this information now because absentee ballots will go out in the mail soon.

Non-Homestead Renewal Questions and Answers:

  • If the only property I own in Michigan Center School District is my home, does this proposal cost me anything?  NO.  Primary residences and other qualified properties are exempt. 
  • Does the Non-Homestead Renewal mean a tax increase for area businesses?  NO.  This is the same tax that has been levied on businesses, vacant land, and second homes since 1995 and the passage of Proposal A.
  • What does the money from Non-Homestead Renewal tax pay for?  The Non-Homestead tax revenue is placed in our General Fund to finance our most crucial student needs.  The revenue generated is critical to our operations and to maintain our current staffing.
